I've been painting animals for over 20 years & the reason I'm still painting them is that I absolutely love it; their friendship, humour, trust and sometime vulnerability is something that I'm proud to be able to convey through my paintings.
Delighted to have been commissioned to paint this Limousin X bull as a surprise birthday present for my client's wife. So pleased he chose the black background too.
All work begins with an original oil painting on canvas. For a resin piece I would then layer the painting with two layers of epoxy resin which really makes the colours pop and gives a glossy finish. Flowers and/or 3d & metallic powders can also be added. The use of resin makes for a unique distinctive interpretation.
I use oil on canvas to produce an original and unique painting. This could be an animal you wish to commission me to paint or from the selection I have for sale. Backgrounds are left as a blocked colour so the focus is entirely on the animal; I also hand apply gold foil to the backgrounds.
These are a more fluid version of my oil paintings, usually executed on stretch linen canvas or linen board. I like to leave some of the linen background showing through; it makes for strong lines, pops of colour and a fresh approach.
Limited Edition Giclèe Prints are taken from my original oil paintings or oil & resin paintings. Selected editions have hand embellished features: metallic powder or spot resin; hand painted bees or flowers; texture in the hair making each piece unique.
Taken from my original oil paintings and original oil and resin paintings, a Giclèe print is printed onto aluminium or perspex for a totally bold and stunning result.
Due to the nature of my sitters only photographs are used - they just won't keep still! We can discuss what's best to capture the individual character and personality of your animal when you get in touch to commission a portrait.
